Thanks to PT Auto Accindo Jaya for supplying this blog with two new coffee equipments, Brikka and Mukka Express. I have been a loyal fans of Bialetti for their high quality products and have been enjoying my old Moka Pot for many years without any complaints. Bialetti is an Italian company founded by Alfonso Bialetti, an engineer who had discovered a new way of enjoying coffee in 1933, moka pot. It was an exciting news when the distributor offered me an opportunity to try their two products above and I have promised them to write my experience in this blog. So here it is, Brikka and Mukka Express.
One noticeable different between my Moka Pot compare to Brikka is “valve system”, to create a froth, a creamy brownish crema when the pressure increased inside the chamber. The valve was invented by Bialetti in 1997 as a way to enjoy coffee with a lot of crema. Of course you can’t expect its coffee taste comparable with espresso machine. It’s totally different although both espresso machine and brikka using pressure in brewing the coffee.
Inside the box you will have a set of octagonal shaped of Brikka consists of upper and lower chamber, a filter or funnel, measuring cup, and manual. Except the filter, which made by high quality stainless steel, all parts were made by aluminum. One of the feature is transparent lid with the lens effect where you can see inside the upper chamber during the brewing process.
This is how to :
Using Brikka is no brainier, but first you need to read its manual first to ensure that you understand the whole mechanism of this percolator system. I started pouring the water into measuring cup, if you have hot water that would be recommended, not too hot though to speed up the brewing.
– Pour the water into lower chamber. For gas stove, the water is lower than for ceramic, just follow this instruction.
– Fill the filter with ground coffee without tamp
– Lock the two parts tightly, if not, water will spill due to high pressure
– Important, check the valve system and ensure it can move freely
– You may put on the gas or stove, use medium level
– After a few minutes the brown liquid coming up trough the valve and seconds later the wooosh sounds is heard along with crema, a lot of golden brownish color crema.
The similar method is applied for Mukka Express which will be posting soon.
Did I tell you that Bialetti is producing awesome products with hight quality materials? There are many similar stove pot in the market and somehow cheaper than Bialetti. However, if I need to choose, Bialetti will be my first choice due to its build quality and actually the first company, which invented the Moka Pot. With regard of the taste is truly enjoyable if you like a strong coffee with a little taste of espresso, at least for myself.
The overall process might look a little complicated, but actually is not. Cleaning is easy, just unscrew the chambers, throw the coffee ground, and scrub with mild soap. Simple. There is always pro and cons in every product, but generally Brikka has been praised as one of unique method and can savor a great cup of coffee. So, without hesitant I recommend this product to anyone who want a good product for a good cup of coffee like in every cucina Italiana (Italian kitchen).
